The Immune Boosting Power of Mushrooms

Mushrooms are amazing. They contain B Vitamins and Selenium, a powerful antioxidant that helps support the immune system. I’ve heard them to be anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory and anti-viral!

But fresh mushrooms aren’t frequently dipped in ranch dressing and served to picky kids. Here are a few ideas on ways to get more mushrooms in your daily diets:

Bag the Burger - Instead of regular burgers, brush a few portabella caps with olive oil and salt 7 pepper then grill or broil them, 4-6 minutes per side. Serve on a bun with all the fixins and satisfy that summer burger craving the healthy way.

Slice and Dice - Start with any type of mushroom or, better yet, a blend of a few types. Micro dice them and toss in into spaghetti sauce or chili with your regular meat. The texture will closely resemble the meat so your family may never notice.

Powder Power - There are fantastic mushroom powders on the market that pack a powerful punch. Stir a teaspoon (look for the serving size on the package) into your smoothies, oatmeal or soup. It can also go in your morning coffee or tea. I’ve been using Om Mushroom powders everyday for a week now. Check out my instagram page to see how I’ve been serving it to the kids.
