November 14, 2011Best Fitness Apps for Your Smartphone
Fitness apps are a great, inexpensive way to keep your routines fresh, deliver inspiration for your next trip to the gym, or provide an alternative to the gym itself.
Check out which apps we are using now!
RunKeeper uses the GPS in your iPhone to track your activity. With a secure place to keep your phone during a run, this is a great alternative to an expensive watch. You can also enter your activities manually, including your treadmill runs.
Ab Workouts Pro
This is one of the few apps that has a voice trainer to talk you through your workout. It features 20 easy abdominal exercises with steps and animations, 10 all new workouts for all fitness levels, a design your own workout option, and offers foods that fight abdominal fat.
This app includes 280 exercises, the ability to add your own exercises, animations that do not require Internet to access, 52 entire workout routines, as well as body weight, BMI, BMR, and Body Fat Percentage tracking. This is a great option for those looking for support at the gym without a trainer.
Couch to 5K
A great way for those who are sedentary to get working, Couch to 5K allows you to alternate between running and walking while listening to your music. The app gives you audio prompts every time you need to change from running to walking without having to keep track with a stopwatch. The plan takes nine weeks to complete, with three workouts per week. The average workout session is from 30-40 minutes. The app has been showcased by SELF Magazine, ABC News, and featured in “Best iPhone Apps” book.
All-in Fitness: 700 Exercises, Workouts, and Calorie Counter
This app contains a whopping 700 video clips with yoga poses, audio, and HD quality. With a pedometer, music player, and calendar this is definitely a great tool for motivating yourself at the gym. It’s easy to get stuck in a workout rut, but with so many exercise options you will never get bored.
