Terminology... Renewable vs. Sustainable

Being up to date with the latest green technology is overwhelming with so many unfamiliar terms. Renewable and sustainable are two common adjectives that may cause some confusion.

 

Be confused no more…

 

Renewable: not completely depleted when used

 

Sustainable: able to be maintained at a certain rate or level

 

What that means in our terms…

 

Renewable resources are those like sun and wind, which are renewed naturally.  Or crops like bamboo that can be grown manually with little inputs on our part.

 

Sustainable resources are those that can be replenished at the rate they are used such as recyclable products like glass.
