Summer is near and that means summer travel is too. Whether you are going away for a weekend or for three weeks, these simple travel tips will help your trip go smoothly.
1.Make a packing list.
Start with the essentials you know would be required for any trip and then do your research to see what else is specific to your destination. By checking things off as you go, you will be certain not to forget anything and you’ll hopefully avoid that last minute frazzled feeling.
2. Pack a carry on.
Consider this bag your absolute essentials, carry-on bag. Pack it as if the worst-case travel scenario would happen to you (the airlines losing your bag); keep vital supplies, snacks for the kids, medications, and a day or two worth of clean clothes.
3. Use space bags.
Space-saving bags are the wonder-tool for international flights. Even if you can fit all of your belongings in on the way over, it makes bringing back souvenirs a little easier. Save and re-use them every time you travel and it will be worth the investment.
4. Keep your wallet in front.
Pick pocketing is a major problem overseas; protect yourself by keeping your wallet in the front pocket of your pants. Another tip is to keep your money and forms of identification separate. That way, if your money is stolen your identity will still be safe.
5. Don’t advertise your vacation.
Social media is an integral part of our lives, but advertising a vacant home shouldn’t be. Your 500 facebook and twitter friends may not all be your closest friends, so keep your trip quiet until you’ve returned!
